Hairstyles for Every Face Shape

There is nothing better than a good hairstyle; it caps off our total look. But, there is nothing worse than trying to struggle with unruly hair. The right hairstyle can, not only make your life easier, it can also take years off your look. There are many different hairstyles out there, but it is important to choose one that suits your face shape, if you want to maximize its youth-enhancing effects.

There are basically five different face shapes to consider, oval, long, round, square and heart-shaped. So, we will go through them one by one.

Oval-Shaped – People with an oval shaped face are the lucky ones. Almost any hairstyle will suit this shape, so go ahead and experiment. That being said, layers near the chin or cheekbones always look best.

Long – People with a long or oblong face shape look best when creating the illusion of width. A couple of great hairstyles that do this are long, side-swept bangs and chin-length bobs. Curls and waves look great as well, and frame the face beautifully.

Round – The key concept here is to add length. Short hair, hair that’s one length and blunt cuts will make your face look rounder, so try to stay away from these. Try sticking to cuts just below the chin, or graduated layers.

Square – in order to dray attention away from an angular jaw, keep texture in your hair. You can do this by keeping your hair in short curls, or long layers that start just below the jaw line.

Heart-Shaped – In these cases, you want to draw attention to your eyes. You can achieve this with side-swept bangs, long layers at the top or layers that touch your cheekbones.
