Anti-Aging Benefits of Yoga

Yoga has become more and more popular over the past few years. It is known for its many health benefits, but yoga can also have a major impact on your anti-aging efforts as well. In fact, yoga is beneficial to just about every organ in the body; including skin. Combined with a healthy diet, quality skin care products and anti-wrinkle creams, yoga can help take years off your face, while adding years to your life.

Among its many other benefits, yoga is believed to create anti-aging effects such as firming up skin, removing tension from the body – which is one of the biggest enemies of all of our youth enhancing efforts – and increased vitality, and fighting osteoporosis. Enhanced energy is one of the best anti-aging secrets because when you feel good, you look good. There are many forms of yoga, so there is something for every body and every level of fitness.

Before you begin an anti-aging yoga regime, there are some tips to consider.

1. Make sure you advise your yoga instructor of any medical or physical limitations you have. This information is also helpful in allowing the instructor to device a yoga program that suits your personal needs.
2. Drink plenty of water. Because our bodies are made up of 70 percent water, it is important to ensure we stay hydrated. This also helps keep the body in balance, which is very important in the practice of yoga.
3. BREATH! Breathing is one of the core principles of yoga, and a very important part of reaping all of your anti-aging goals.
4. Be patient with yourself. Don’t expect to be able to bend your body like a pretzel, just because you see other people doing it. It takes time to loosen up the muscles, and to get that flexible, and in some cases, you may never get to that point. Yoga is very personal and individualistic; the goal should be to do your personal best.

Yoga can be as simple or challenging as you make it. So, take a deep breath and dive in!
